GSL has been nominated by Ministry of Defence for series construction of sophisticated and high technology Mine Counters Measure Vessels (MCMVs) which will be built first time in the country by GSL with help of foreign collaborator. As part of the creation of infrastructure for the prestigious series construction of MCMVs for the Indian Navy, Goa Shipyard Limited, has laid foundation stone for the upcoming project of Construction of Guest House for Foreign Specialists and ToT providers. CMD, GSL RAdm Shekhar Mital laid the foundation in the presence of Director (Ops) and Director(CPP&BD). The proposed Guest House, a stilt plus 5 upper floors admeasuring 1550 sq. mtrs, is being constructed at a cost of Rs.5.5 Crore at the property owned by GSL at Chicalim, Goa. The building is expected to be ready by Jan 2018.
GSL earlier in the month of Dec 2016 has awarded the civil construction contracts for Construction Works of Phase 4 and Construction Works of Phase 3B for creation of infrastructure required for setting up of State of Art MCMV shipbuilding facility at its yard at Vasco Da Gama Goa, at cash outflow of over Rs.550 Crores.
