On the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week 2018, Goa shipyard Ltd organized a State vendor development program (SVDP) on 1st Nov 2018 at GORC, Chicalim.
The program witnessed an overwhelming response from Entrepreneurs in and around Goa. The Chief Guest for the function, Mr A V Raviprakash, Offg. Chairman and Managing Director, GSL in his key note stated that GSL has proactively initiated various measures for Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) for domestic vendor, particularly MSMEs. These include speedy payments, advance payments to MSMEs and Start Ups etc, besides hand holding firms in development of import substitute items. He stated “GSL is a policy driven progressive DPSU, committed to promote its business partners and have exceeded the mandatory target of 20% procurement from MSEs.” He further stated that GSL is committed to meet 4% procurement target from MSEs owned by SC/ST as per Govt of India Guidelines and urged participants to register with GSL as vendors and be partners in GSL’s growth. In inaugural address, the General Manager (Fin) of GSL, Shri Sunil Bagi, highlighted present government’s focus on speedy online payments and payments through TReDS platform and urged vendors to comply with all the statutory norms and avail various facilities offered by GSL and deliver quality goods & services on time. Mr P P Kulkarni, Asst Director (MSME-Goa) also participated in the said event and briefed about various benefits available to MSEs.
The awareness generated by GSL during the program was well appreciated by the participants. GSL officials apprised the participants regarding GSL product profile, requirement of goods & services, GSL policies for promoting MSEs etc. GSL also arranged knowledge sharing sessions on TReDS registration by RXIL and Schemes and policies offered by NSIC for fostering MSE growth.
The program concluded with a vendor grievance redressal forum addressed by Mr. J. Jairam, AGM (Vig) which saw active participation from large number of vendors.
