GSL organized National Vendor Development Program for MSEs owned by SC/ST Entrepreneurs
In order to promote increased participation of SC/ST entrepreneurs in Ship building sector, Goa Shipyard Limited organized 1st National Vendor Development Program exclusively for Micro & Small Industries owned by SC/ST Entrepreneurs on 16th June 2017. The program saw overwhelming response with over 150 SC/ST Entrepreneurs from all over the country attending the program. The Chief Guest for the function was Padmashree Mr. Milind Kamble, Chairman, DICCI. In his inaugural address the CMD of GSL RAdm, Shekhar Mital ,NM highlighted present government’s commitment for promotion of MSEs and SC/ST entrepreneur in particular. GSL at behest of MoD has initiated various measures for ease of doing business, particularly for MSMEs. These include speedy payments, advance payments to MSMEs and Start Ups, low registration fees etc, besides hand holding firms in development of import substitute items. He stated “GSL is a policy driven progressive DPSU, committed to promote MSEs & are exceeding the mandatory target of 20% procurement from MSEs.” He further stated that GSL is committed to meet 4% procurement target from MSEs owned by SC/ST as per Govt of India Guidelines and urged participants to register with GSL as vendors and be partners in GSL growth. He also appreciated efforts made by DICCI to promote SC/ST entrepreneurs.
The program was well organized and appreciated by the participants.GSL officials appraised the participant regarding GSL products, requirement of goods & services, GSL policies for promoting MSEs etc. GSL also arranged for a Technical presentation by Indian Registrar of Shipping on Inspection & Type approval process.
