during his maiden visit to GSL on 15th December 2020. -
GSL launches Indigenous Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vessel 5th Vessel of the 5 OPV indigenous
Project for Indian Coast Guard was launched at the hands of Smt Jayanthi Natarajan, wife of
DG K Natarajan, Director General Coast Guard who was the Chief Guest for the event on 14th Dec 2020
at Goa Shipyard Limited. The vessel was named as ICGS ‘Saksham’. Considering the ongoing
restrictions due to COVID protocol in force, the function was held in a scaled down manner at GSL
in distinguished presence of Flag Officer Goa Area Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil, NM,
IG A P Badola, COMCG (W), Chairman and Managing Director of Goa Shipyard Limited - Commodore BB Nagpal,
and various other dignitaries. -
CONSTITUTION DAY

The Flag off ceremony of the River Cruise Ferry, built by Goa Shipyard Limited
for Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (UPRNN) was held on 23 Nov 2020 at GSL.
The ceremony was presided by Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Raj Kumar
through video conference in the distinguished presence of Cmde B BNagpal NM,
Chairman & Managing Director, RAdmPhilipose George Pynumootil, Flag Officer
Commanding Goa Area & Flag Officer Naval Aviation, dignitaries from MOD and UP Govt. -

Goa Shipyard Ltd carried out the first Plate Cutting today for the Advanced Missile Frigate Project for
the Indian Navy. This marks the official commencement of the construction phase of the prestigious project.
Vice Chief of Naval Staff VAdm G Ashok Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, presided over the ceremony over
Video Conferencing. The ceremony was also attended by VAdm SR Sarma, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Materiel,
Indian Navy, Shri VL Kantharao, Additional Secretary (Defence Production), RAdm Philopose Pynumootil, NM,
Flag Officer Goa Naval Area and other senior dignitaries from the Ministry of Defence and the Indian Navy. -

4th Coast Guard OPV, designed in-house and built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), was launched by
Smt Veena Ajay Kumar in the presence of Dr. Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary, Govt. of India.
The unique launching was held through a digital ceremony on 13th August 2020, in the presence
of Shri Raj Kumar, IAS, Secretary (DP), Smt Gargi Kaul, Secretary(Defence Finance), Shri Apoorva Chandra,
DG(Acq), Director General Indian Coast Guard K Natarajan, PTM,TM, Cmde B B Nagpal, NM, CMD, GSL
and other senior dignitaries from Government and Coast Guard. -
