Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers – Resolution (PIDPIR) – 2004
In 2004, in response to a Writ Petition (Civil) No. 539/2003 filed after the murder of Shri Satyendra Dubey, the Supreme Court directed that a machinery be put in place for acting on complaints from whistleblowers till a law is enacted. Pursuant to that, the Government of India have notified the Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers Resolution (PIDPIR), 2004 which gave the powers to the Commission to act on complaints from whistle-blowers.
If a complainant, while exposing a case of corruption, wants his/her identity to be kept secret, he/she should lodge the complaint under Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers Resolution (PIDPIR).
