With an objective to create awareness in the society especially the youths, towards corruption free government, vigilance department of Goa Shipyard Limited in collaboration with BITS Pilani organized inter college elocution contest on October 28th 2022 at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa campus on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week. Students of BITS, Pilani – Goa Campus, Carmel College for Women, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa Engineering College (GEC), Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola, National Institute of Technology (NIT, Goa) and MES College of Arts & commerce, participated in the contest.
Chief Guest for the event Associate Dean (SWD) of BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus, Prof Anshuman Sarkar, addressed the students and shared his knowledge and experience towards creating corruption free environment in academic and work place. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Prof Sukanta Mondal, Chief warden and faculty in department of Biological science and Shri Sebastiao Fernandes HOD (Vigilance) GSL. The programme was compered by Shri Lochan Karekar, DGM (Vigilance) and the vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Sebastiao Fernandes HOD (Vigilance) of Goa Shipyard Limited.
Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year by various authorities in central government and other organization under it throughout the country. Such observance is a part of multi-pronged approach of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in prevention of and fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and threat posed by corruption. For the year 2022, CVC has decided to observe Vigilance Awareness Week with the theme “भ्रष्टाचार मुक्त भारत- विकसित भारत” – “Corruption Free India for a Developed Nation”.
